Former Charger Josh Kliner Develops Next Level Talent at El Modena High School

Former Cypress Charger and current El Modena High School baseball coach, Josh Kliner, is in the news after seeing another one of his players develop into an NCAA Division 1 scholarship recipient. The Vanguards finished 19-10 this season, earning their sixth post season appearance to go along with two league championships under Coach Kliner's leadership.

Kliner was captain of the Cypress College baseball team that went on to win the California State Championship in 1994 under legendary coach Scott Pickler. After Cypress College, he received a scholarship to play for the University of Kansas where he became the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year and a 1st Team Division 1-A All American his senior season. He also set single-season records at KU for RBI, doubles, and total bases his senior season before his five seasons playing professional baseball.

Kliner is now a fixture in the Orange County community and has seen a number of his players move on to have successful careers at the collegiate and professional levels.
