Coach Scott Pickler Retires from Teaching to Focus on Baseball
Cypress College baseball coach Scott Pickler just finished his 31st season as head coach of the Chargers. After an uncharacteristic early postseason exit last season, Coach Pickler remains optimistic about the future of Cypress College baseball. Pickler's had tremendous success as head coach; including 5 state championships, 6 conference championships, and 950 career wins.

Despite what some people might think, Pickler doesn't plan on stepping down from coaching anytime soon. During a recent interview he said, "I have no plans on retiring. This is what I like to do. I'm looking forward to next season and plan on being here for quite a while." Coach Pickler did go on to say that he plans to retire from teaching so that he can spend more time with his family and focus on his passion for coaching.

Even after 31 years there is no offseason for Coach Pickler. He will head out to Massachusetts this week and coach in the Cape Cod Summer League, where he won his 4th championship last season. Coach Pickler said, "I've been 100% baseball for a long time. Without a doubt I am going to continue to do that. Now I can spend more time with my athletes and more time on the field."
