Cypress Falls to Fullerton in Extra Innings
​Cypress Calif.- The Cypress College baseball team (14-5, 4-3 OEC) lost to visiting Fullerton (15-5, 5-2 OEC) on Thursday afternoon.
Fullerton got on the board first with a run at the top of the first inning. The Chargers responded in the bottom of the first with four runs of their own, including a two RBI triple hit by shortstop Jackson Willeford. Fullerton was able to score two runs in the fourth inning and another two runs in the seventh to regain a one run lead, 5-4. Cypress battled their way back to tie the game at the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI double hit by catcher John Santospago. The score would remain 5-5 after the ninth inning. The Fullerton Hornets took the lead in the top of the eleventh off of a Justin Row RBI single. The Chargers were unable to respond with a run and Fullerton would go on to win 6-5 in eleven innings. Cypress is now 1-2 in games that go into extras this season. Kyle Lazcano got the win for Fullerton after allowing three hits and one run in two innings pitched. Justin Donovan led the Chargers from the plate with two hits and two runs scored in four at bats.
The Chargers are set to resume conference play on Tuesday, March 17 at 2:00 pm when they travel to take on Golden West (11-9, 2-4 OEC).
