Chargers Handed Second OEC Loss of Season

Chargers Handed Second OEC Loss of Season
Cypress Calif.- The Cypress Chargers baseball team (12-4, 2-2 OEC) were handed a home loss by Orange Coast College (12-7, 3-1 OEC) on Thursday afternoon.
Orange Coast got on the board first with one run in the top of the third inning, one in the top of the fourth, and another in the top of the ninth inning to take a 3-0 lead over Cypress. The Chargers were uncharacteristically held scoreless through the eighth inning by OCC. However, the Chargers would rally at the bottom of the ninth and make it a 3-2 game with only one out and runners in scoring position. Tyler Gnesda hit a high pop fly to right field that was caught for a second out allowing Grant Mayeau to make a run for home. Mayeau couldn't escape the tag and was called out at home ending the Charger comeback. Despite the loss, Cypress Charger Aaron Case had a strong game from the plate with two hits and two RBI.
The Chargers will head out on the road next to face Riverside (14-3, 2-2 OEC) on Saturday, March 7 at 12:00 pm
