Cypress Calif.- The Cypress Chargers baseball team (12-3, 2-1 OEC) defeated visiting Irvine Valley (9-7, 1-2 OEC) on Tuesday afternoon.
John Forsythe, Payton Smith, and Tyler Ornales combined to pitch the second shutout for the Chargers this season. Cypress posted one run in the bottom of the third, two in the bottom of the fourth, and another two in the bottom of the eighth inning to win 5-0 over Irvine Valley. The Chargers were led by third baseman Grant Mayeau, who picked up two hits, one run, and three RBI. John Forsythe led Cypress from the mound by allowing only four hits and collecting seven strike outs in his six innings pitched.
The Chargers will continue their home stand this Thursday, March 5 when they take on the visiting Orange Coast College Pirates (11-7, 2-1 OEC).
