Chargers Take Two Games at Fullerton

Fullerton, CA. -- The Chargers headed to Fullerton to face the Hornets in a Tuesday/Thursday road match-up this week and avenged an earlier home loss to Fullerton with two victories, 11-5 and 11-3.

On Tuesday, Ryan Hartman got the start and win at pitcher for Cypress. Dalton Douty and Nathan Kuchta saw time at pitcher as well. The Chargers did most of their damage in the top of the 5th when they were down 2-3, by scoring four runs to go up 6-3. They added one run in the 7th and another four in the 9th to top off the 11-3 win.

In Thursday's game, Cypress started Matt Esparza on the mound who threw nine strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. Dalton Douty and Jaret Vermillion came in to throw one inning each in relief. The Chargers got an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. The Hornet came back to tie the game in the 3rd at 2-2, then take the lead 3-2 after scoring a run in the 5th. Cypress then went on an offensive barrage as they scored four in the 7th, two in the 8th, and three in the 9th to win again, 11-3.

The Chargers now improve to 17-11 overall and 8-7 in conference. They will face Golden West at home this Saturday (4/5) at noon at Charger Field.
