Chargers take down Merced

Cypress, CA -- The Chargers faced a determined Merced team on Friday afternoon at home. After Cypress scored seven runs in the first inning, the Blue Devils had a hard time keeping up and the Chargers easily won, 14-5.

Stephen Kane started at pitcher for Cypress and recorded seven strikeouts before being replaced in the fifth inning by Hector Perez. A total of six Charger pitchers saw time on the mound before the game was over.

After the Chargers scored seven in the first they were silent until the 4th and 5th innings when they scored one run in each to extend the lead to 9-0 after the 5th. 

Merced mounted a comeback in the 7th inning when they managed to bring in five runs, but the Chargers answered back with one run of their own in the 7th and another four in the eigth. 

The Chargers improve to 7-2 overall and will face Merced again on Saturday (2/15) at noon at Cypress.
