Falcons stop Chargers Playoff Run

Cypress, Calif. -- The Chargers run at the state title came to an early end Tuesday afternoon on the soccer field of Cerritos College where they lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Falcons, 3-1.

Cerritos started the game off with a goal in the 17th minute and then added another in the 44th minute to go up 2-0 at the half. Cypress was unable to mount a second-half comeback and the Falcons netted another goal off a corner kick in the 59th minute to go up 3-0. 

The lone Cypress goal came on a penalty kick from Alex Ishihara in the 89th minute. Shortly thereafter the head referee blew the final whistle to make it a final, 3-1 Cerritos. 

The Chargers finish the season at 11-7-4 overall and 10-4-2 in conference play.
