Chargers Halt Losing Streak With Big Win Over Golden West

Cypress, Calif. -- Coming off a two game losing skid that saw them drop out of being tied for first place in the conference, the Chargers were ready for a victory Tuesday afternoon at Ray Haas Field against visiting Golden West.

The Chargers got on the board first with a quick goal in the ninth minute off a corner kick by Lindsey Righettini that Kylie Redmond tapped in for the early 1-0 lead. The Chargers got another goal in the 16th minute by Jade Perez off a Laura Najera assist.

Right before halftime, in the 47th minute, Alina Aviles of Golden West, hit a perfect shot from the right perimter of the goal box that sailed into the upper left corner just over the outstretched hands of Cypress goalkeeper Chloe Sutkowski.

At the half the score was Cypress 2 - Golden West 1.

In the second half Kendra Serrano put in an unassisted goal in the 55th minute to boost the lead to 3-1. Not more than ten minutes later, in the 64th minute Jade Perez found the back of the net for her second goal of the game (fourth on the season) on an assist by Kimberly Gonzalez that put the Chargers ahead for good at 4-1.

Cypress (7-3-1 Conf. and 8-5-2 Overall) is now 5th in the OEC conference and will travel to Irvine Valley this Friday for a 3pm match-up against the Lasers.
