Chargers Toppled by Hawks

Cypress, Calif. -- It was "Sophomore Day" for the Charger Women's Soccer team as it was thier final home game of the regular season. Cypress was able to score first but was unable to hold the lead as Santiago Canyon came back in the final minutes to score the deciding goal.

Monique Gerrits scored the first goal of the afternoon in the 12th minute on a header off a pass from Kimberly Gonzalez. The Hawks came back to score two straight goals in the 21st and 30th minutes to go up 2-1 heading into the half.

The Chargers evened things up at 2-2 in the 66th minute when Jorden Wozniak was able to put a shot past the Santiago goalkeeper. That tie was broken when the Hawks snuck past the Cypress defense in the 87th minute and scored the final deciding goal to go up, 3-2.

The Chargers head to Fullerton this Friday (11/15) for thier last regular season game of the season against the Hornets. Game time is at 3pm.
