San Diego, Calif. -- The Chargers are now on to the second round of the state playoffs after defeating San Diego Mesa in penalty kicks Saturday evening.  

Cypress scored their first and only goal of regulation in the 2nd mintue when Thania Valencia scored off an assist from Kendra Serrano. That goal would remain the difference for the next 90 minutes until San Diego Mesa managed to score to tie things up at 1-1 just before the end of regulation.

Throughout two overtime periods neither team scored, resulting in the game going penalty kicks. Cypress won the round of penalties to secure the victory and another playoff game. 

The Chargers are set to face off against Cerritos College in the secound round. The game will take place this Tuesday, Nov. 26th at 2pm at Cerritos College. Come support your Chargers as they go for the state title!
