Hong Earns Second Charger of the Week Honor

Lauren Hong has been named Charger of the week (Jan. 5-11) for the second time this season after helping Cypress to a 2-0 start to Orange Empire play.

The sophomore guard had a huge night at Saddleback in the Chargers' opening game of conference play, scoring a season-high 27 points to lead Cypress in scoring. Hong tallied 14 of her 27 points in the final seven minutes regulation to help lift the team to an overtime victory, 72-68. Against Riverside, Hong again scored in double-digits, this time with 10, as the Chargers improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 69-66 victory over the Tigers. This was the fifth Charger of the Week honor for the women's basketball team this season.
