Megan Hanson Named '13-'14 CCCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year

Ontario, Calif. - Each Year the California Community College Athletic Association recognizes a male and female student athlete for their excellence in athletics and academics with the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award. This award is considered the most prestigious award offered by the Association and nominees are selected from among the 27,000 student athletes participating annually.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2015, Megan Hanson was presented with the 2013-2014 CCCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year Award for her achievements in the classroom and on the court as part of the Cypress College women's basketball program. During her time with the Chargers (2012-14), Hanson started a total of 20 games at the guard position for coach Mohr and was considered a team leader both on and off the court. Hanson averaged a team leading 3.4 assists per game to help propel the Chargers to a record of 17-14 (7-5 OEC) during the 2013-2014 season. In the classroom, Hanson was able to maintain her 4.0 GPA despite her role on the basketball team. Hanson represents the outstanding scholars who initially enroll at a California Community College that accept the challenge and take advantage of the opportunities offered. Megan transferred to UCLA where she is a now a proud Bruin.
