Costa Mesa – The Cypress women's basketball team (17-6, 5-1 OEC) knocked off Orange Coast (3-17, 0-6 OEC) on Wednesday evening, defeating the Pirates 79-59. The women have now won two straight games. Three Chargers scored in double-digits, led by Erika Nilsen's 14.
 
Nilsen shot 7-of-9 from the field in the game to lead the team. Haley Gorman added 12, while Jeana Magaña rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11. Magaña was one rebound shy of a double-double as she grabbed a team-high nine boards.
 
Cypress shot a season-best 49% from the field (32-of-66) in the win.
 
The Chargers return home this Friday as the second half of conference season begins. The team hosts Saddleback (12-11, 3-3 OEC) at 7:00 pm, while the men's game against the Gauchos will tip-off at 5:00 pm.
