Chargers Stumble in Loss To Lasers
Cypress shoots only 25.5% from the floor.

Cypress, CA. -- With just one win in conference play, the Chargers faced a solid Irvine Valley team Friday night, ranked #9 in the latest Southern California basketball rankings. The Lasers had no problem maintaining the lead througout the game and won by a final score of 64-41.
While the Lasers had offensive problems of their own, the Chargers were their own worst enemy as they shot only 25.5% from the floor in setting a season low for total points in a game at 41.
Cypress stayed close to the Lasers in the first half and knotted up the score at 11-11 with eight minutes remaining in the game, however Irvine Valley pulled away to lead by ten at the break, 31-21.
In the second half, the Chargers let the ten point Irvine Valley lead grow, and with a little over two minutes to go, the Lasers led by 20, 57-37
The Chargers converted only 12 shots from the floor and were only able to convert 4 of 24 three point attempts. David Gonzalez was held to only 13 points on the night and went 0-8 from behind the three point line.
Coming off the Charger bench, Kevin Barnes scored 11 points while grabbing 4 rebounds.
With the loss the Chargers drop to 6-16 overall and 1-6 in conference.
The Chargers will go on the road to face conference foe Fullerton next Wednesday at 7:30pm.
