Chargers leave El Camino with a win.
Torrance, CA -- The Chargers got back in the win column and improved thier record to 5-10 overall after a narrow 63-57 win over El Camino on Friday night.
The game was close for the first ten minutes, after which the Chargers went on a 23 point unanswered run and with a little under four minutes before half, led 31-13. El Camino was able to find a small spark before the break and cut the lead to 34-21 at halftime.
In the second half the Chargers continued to score and extended the lead to 17 at one point. At no point in the second half did they relinquish the lead to El Camino and when the final horn sounded Cypress had taken their fifth win of the season, 63-57.
Coming off his record breaking 50 point performance in last week's San Diego Mesa Tournament, David Gonzalez continued to lead the Chargers in the point column with 21. Coming off the bench, Kevin Barnes added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jerred Cook played a good game as well with 11 points and 4 assists.
Overall the Chargers shot 52.2% from the field as well as 58.8% from behind the three point line.
Cypress now opens up conference play on the road this coming Wednesday (1/8) at Irvine Valley. Game time is set for 5:30pm. Immediately following that game the Charger Women's Basketball Team will face off against the Irvine Valley Women's Basketball Team at 7:30pm.
