Women's Volleyball: OEC Champion Chargers Set for Postseason

CYPRESS, CA – After closing out the regular season with a 5-set victory over Golden West (25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9), the Chargers were crowned Orange Empire Conference Champions for the first time since 2010.

The Cypress College women's volleyball team finished the regular season with a 22-2 overall record and a 15-1 record in conference play. The 2016 Chargers are the fifth team in program history to post a 20 win season and the first to win 15 conference matches. Cypress dominated OEC opponents, winning 46-of-55 sets played with 11-of-16 matches resulting in 3-0 sweeps.

The OEC Champions will begin postseason play at home Tuesday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. as the No. 5 Chargers take on No. 12 Canyons on Don Johnson Court in Gym II. The Chargers defeated Canyons 3-1 (25-15, 25-16, 18-25, 25-17) in their only meeting of the year at the Cerritos Invitational. Cypress is 3-4 all-time against the Cougars.

Tickets to the CCCAA postseason event are $12 for general admission and $8 for staff, students, and children.
