CYPRESS, CA – The No. 8 Cypress College women's volleyball team (13-1, 6-0 OEC) completed their eighth sweep of the season on Wednesday night with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-9) win at home over Santiago Canyon (2-8, 0-5 OEC).

Rockelle Gholson led the Chargers with 13 kills on 24 attempts and Samantha Martinez dished out a team high 42 assists with 6 aces.

The Chargers fell behind 2-0 early in the first set but eventually took a 15-9 lead. Martinez would then serve up 10 straight points to close out the first set 25-9.

The Hawks showed some life in the second set. Santiago Canyon was able to force some long rallies but were unable to capitalize as the tandem of Brianna Johnson and Gholson at the net proved to be too much to handle for the Hawks. Cypress went on to win the second set 25-18.

The Chargers dominated the third set 25-9 to remain undefeated at home and in OEC play. Women's volleyball will return to action at home next Wednesday, October 12 in a huge match against Riverside at 6:00pm
