Gholson Receives Full-Ride Scholarship From Midwestern State University

CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College women's volleyball standout Rockelle Gholson has accepted a full-ride scholarship offer from Midwestern State University, where she will continue her volleyball career next season.

MSU, located in Wichita Falls, Texas, competes at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Lone Star Conference. "I plan to bring my leadership and intensity with me to MSU, along with my loudness," said Gholson. "I just want to contribute to the team. I hope we can take the next title; I want to win."

The two-time All-Orange Empire Conference First Team selection put together a strong sophomore campaign as she helped lead the Chargers to the State Final 4 and their first Conference Title since 2010. "I'm going to miss the tight bond that I've had with this team. Without this team I wouldn't be who I am today. They push me to be a better person and are part of the reason I want to continue playing volleyball," said Gholson.

The Western High School alumna recorded 486 kills, 260 digs, and 112 blocks in her two seasons at Cypress. She currently competes on the Chargers' beach volleyball team, who sit atop the OEC with an undefeated record in conference play.

She plans to major in Communications at MSU and is hoping to work for Fox Studios after earning her bachelor's degree.
