CYPRESS, CA – The No. 8 Ranked Cypress College women's volleyball team (9-1, 2-0 OEC) completed their sixth 3-0 sweep of the season on Wednesday night against visiting Saddleback College (3-6, 0-2 OEC) 25-12, 25-14, 25-20.
Freshman Samantha Madrid and sophomore Rockelle Gholson led the Chargers with 7 kills each. Gholson also added a team high 3 aces and 2 blocks.
The Chargers continued their dominance at home this season as they proved to be too much for the Gauchos. Cypress jumped out to an early lead in the first two sets of the match and Saddleback was unable to respond. However, the Gauchos put up a strong fight in the third set but the Chargers ultimately completed the sweep to start Orange Empire Conference play 2-0.
Cypress women's volleyball will return to action on the road this Friday against the reigning OEC Champion Irvine Valley Lasers before they return home next Wednesday, September 28th to take on district rival Fullerton College.
