RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Cypress hit four 3 point baskets in the final five minutes of regulation to force overtime and erase their 12 point deficit against Riverside on Friday night.
After the courageous comeback, the Chargers carried their momentum and took control of the overtime period, defeating the Tigers by a score of 73-71.
Lauren Hong took matters into her own hands and led the team with a season high 24 points on the night. Hong also had six assists and three steals in her impressive performance.
Denshay Wallace had a double-double for the Chargers, recording 10 rebounds and 17 points for Cypress in their two point victory.
Katey Kanamoto dropped 11 points and hit a clutch three down the stretch for the Lady Chargers.
Cypress managed to score 25 points off Riverside turnovers and also scored 18 second chance points in the contest. The 29 points off the bench was also a huge contribution towards the victory as Cypress continues to score from every angle.
Cypress will host Saddleback at home on January 22, starting at 7:30 PM.
The Chargers are now 4-0 in conference play and stand alone in first place with a 13-8 overall record so far on the season.
