Short on Time
The Lady Chargers tried fighting back into the game but couldn't contain the visiting Orange Coast Pirates down the stretch on Friday night...
CYPRESS, Calif. --- The Cypress Chargers faced a similar situation compared to the one they faced back on January 15th against the Pirates.
Cypress found themselves within striking distance once again at the halftime break. Unfortunately, the Chargers didn't have enough time to overcome the deficit and came up a dozen short in the end, 55-67.
Cypress continued having a hard time when it came to taking care of the ball. Cypress committed 14 turnovers and Orange Coast found a way to continually capitalize on the Charger mishaps.
Orange Coast ended up scoring 17 points from the free throw line which ended up being a huge deciding factor in the contest.
Ruby Nichols had her second best scoring performance of the year and added 10 points for the Chargers. Nichols also led the Chargers in rebounding with six boards on the night.
Haley Gorman led Cypress in scoring with 14 points and also recorded five rebounds in the contest.
Another notable performance came from Megan Hanson. Hanson was able to record six assists and grabbed three rebounds against the Pirates.
After tonight, Cypress is now 14-12 overall with a 5-4 conference record.
The Lady Chargers will look to regroup and get back on track in the OEC when they face Riverside at home on Tuesday, February 11.
Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
