SAN JACINTO, Calif. --- The Cypress Chargers came into the San Jacinto Tip-Off Tournament determined to get their first victory.
The Chargers found themselves in a hard fought game in the first half, but ended up hanging on and defeating Cerritos, 70-62. Haley Gorman took over for Cypress scoring a team high 26 points on the night. Gorman also recorded eight rebounds and led the team in blocks with three.
Breanna Patton scored 15 points for Cypress and went 7 of 11 from the field.
Cypress shot an impressive 43% from the field on the night and their defense held Cerritos to a 32% shooting performance.
The Chargers also shot a respectable 82% from the charity strike, going 9 for 11.
Cypress plays Chaffey today in game two of the San Jacinto Tournament. Tip-off is set to start at 4 pm.
