Newman drafted by Royals
Royals take Newman in 10th round
Cypress, CA - Charger Sophmore Alex Newman, from nearby Gahr High School, was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Newman, a centerfielder with speed and an accurate swing, was assigned to play for the Burlington Royals of the Rookie Appalachian League. Since the start of the season on June 20, Newman has made two starts going 4-for-8 with a double and two RBI's.
