CYPRESS, CA – The Cypress College women's soccer team (11-1-5, 8-0-4 OEC) defeated Norco College (3-10-3, 0-9-3 OEC) 3-0 on Friday at home.

The Chargers began the first half controlling possession. The Chargers opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when forward Julissa Zuniga finished off a great pass from midfielder Kailey Merino to give Cypress a 1-0 lead. Following the goal the Chargers continued to push up the field searching for more goals. Zuniga would score her second goal of the game in the 13th minute to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead. Several minutes later it was Merino again with the great pass to set up forward Taylor Jones as she knocked home a goal to give the Chargers a 3-0 advantage. The Chargers continued to dominate the first half and went into halftime up 3-0.

Early in the second half Norco was able to create some opportunities on the counterattack, but were never able to get a good shot off. The Chargers created opportunities to add another goal, but forward Kristen Nolan fired her best chance of the game over the crossbar as the Chargers went on to win 3-0.

Women's soccer will return to action on Tuesday, November 1 at Orange Coast College at 3:00 pm.
