Tournament Bracket

The 32nd Annual Lady Charger Classic will be held at Cypress College from December 4th-6th.  The tournament will feature the Cypress Chargers, East LA Huskies, Grossmont Griffins, LA Southwest Cougars, Orange Coast Pirates, Palomar Comets, Santa Monica Corsairs, and the West LA Wildcats.

Cypress Chargers (4-1) - Cypress is currently riding a three game win streak heading into their tournament opener against LA Southwest at 6:00 pm. The Chargers are the defending Lady Charger Classic Champions, beating Orange Coast 84-69 in last year's championship matchup. Cypress will lean on their freshman point guard Alyssa Movchan, who leads the team in scoring at 13 PPG, and sophomore captain Erika Nilsen

East LA (4-3) - The Huskies boast a two game win streak and look to continue the streak when they face Orange Coast in their tournament opener at 2:00 pm. The Huskies are led by Tiffani Martinez and Jessica Sanchez, averaging 15 PPG and 12 PPG, respectively. The Huskies are a deep team with sophomore Yasmine Tweedy leading the squad in minutes played at 12.7 MPG.

Grossmont (1-4) - The Griffins look to snap their four game losing streak heading into the Lady Charger Classic when they face Santa Monica at 4:00 pm. Jazmine Bradley leads the Griffins averaging just over 10 PPG and three APG. Look for the Griffins to get a lot of second chances, as they average 17 offensive rebounds per contest.

LA Southwest (0-5) - The Cougars are looking for their first win of the season after coming up short in their first five contests. The Cougars are led by freshman Latifah Bayonne, who averages a double-double with 12 PPG and 13 RPG..

Orange Coast (2-3) - The Pirates join Cypress as the only Orange Empire Conference team in this year's tournament field. Orange Coast enters the tournament having lost their last game against LA Valley 58-53. Freshman Jenna Rodriguez leads her squad in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13 PPG and nine RPG. Orange Coast relies heavily on the three point shot, hoisting 23 attempts from downtown per game with an average of seven makes.

Palomar (5-1) - The Comets carry momentum on their side having won their last two games by an average of 14 per contest. Palomar features a balanced attack with four players averaging over seven points per game. Freshman Roshell Lamug leads the team averaging 7.8 PPG. The Comets 25 offensive rebounds per game ranks first in the state.

Santa Monica (1-5) – The Corsairs enter the Lady Charger Classic on a two-game losing streak. Santa Monica has a balanced scoring attack with five players averaging more than nine points per game and two averaging double digits. Freshman Jessica Melamed leads the team in scoring at 17 PPG while freshman Mija Williams leads the team in rebounds at 5.7 RPG.

West LA (2-3) – The Wildcats have had success playing on neutral floors this season (2-0). The Wildcats look to continue that success when they face Palomar at 8:00 pm. West LA gets to the free throw line early and often ranking fourth in the state in free throw attempts and fifth in free throws made per game, 31 and 17 respectively. They are also deadly from behind the arc, hitting a shade under 35-percent from downtown, good enough for 11th in the state. Sophomore Zhane Carter leads both the state and the team in scoring with an astounding 31 PPG.
