Chargers Sweep Owls in Saturday Double-Header

Cypress, CA- The Cypress Chargers (18-2, 10-0 OEC) bounced back from Friday night's loss with a two-game sweep in their non-conference double-header against the visiting Citrus College owls (5-13, 2-2) on Saturday afternoon.  The Chargers defeated the Owls 9-1 (6-innings) followed by a 9-3 victory in game two.

Game 1: Ashley Ramirez (3-0) received her third win of the season on the mound for the Chargers after allowing eight hits and one run, while collecting four strikeouts in six innings. Melanie Okazaki had her best game of the season at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and four runs. Tobi Salzman was also a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBI, including a three run homer, which is her third HR of the season.  

Game 2: Vanessa Ledesma (7-0) received her seventh win of the season at the mound after allowing five hits and three runs, while amassing a season-high seven strikeouts in seven innings of work. Freshman Emma Walker went 2-for-3, including a 3RBI double in the first inning followed up with a 2RBI triple in the third.

Cypress will resume Orange Empire Conference action on the road against Golden West on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:00pm.
