Chargers Complete Season Sweep of Orange Coast

Cypress, CA – Cypress College Softball (28-4, 16-0 OEC) completed its season sweep over Orange Coast College (7-19, 5-10 OEC) on Friday with a 9-0 victory after five innings.

Vanessa Ledesma (12-1, 2.17 ERA) continues her dominant stretch with a complete game shutout, surrendering only one hit and striking out five for the win. Montana Roelvink of Orange Coast struggled at the mound, giving up nine runs in four innings for her twelfth loss of the season. Justice Walker had an impactful performance, going 1-for-1 with 2 walks, an RBI triple, and two runs. Melanie Okazaki contributed as well, hitting 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run.

The Chargers rampaged through the first inning with an eight-run rally that was capped off by a RBI triple from Justice Walker in her second at-bat. After a fielding miscue by Orange Coast's left fielder, Walker continued to advance home adding to the Cypress lead. Cypress added another insurance run in the third inning and the game was all but settled thanks to a solid pitching display from Ledesma.

Cypress will play their next game on the road against Riverside on Wednesday, April 13 at 3:00 PM. They will return home on Friday, April 15 to host Golden West at 3:00 PM.
