Coach Anthony Hutting Earns His 100th Win

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College baseball team (16-2-1, 3-0 OEC) began OEC play this week against the Fullerton Hornets (5-12-1, 0-3 OEC). The Chargers swept the Hornets in the three game series with today's win on the road at Fullerton. Coach Anthony Hutting earned his 100th win in dominant fashion with a 12-1 victory.

The Cypress baseball team has continued to produce on the offensive end, but it was their pitching that improved this week. While the bats were hot the Chargers outscored Fullerton 42-6 in the three game series. The Chargers got 7 strong innings out of starter, Raul Herrada, today who earned his 4th victory of the season. Herrada was close to untouchable as he only gave up 4 hits and struck out 4 while not allowing any earned runs to cross the plate. Bobby Silvis got the game started with a solo shot to right field and the Chargers added 1 run in each of the next two innings. Silvis, who earned Charger of the Week at Wednesday's practice, continued to stay hot through out the game going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Trevor Jones saw his bat up heat up as well when he doubled down the left field line to knock in 2 runs in the 6th inning. Cypress slowed down and turned to Colton Bulger to take care of the ninth inning. Bulger was flawless as he retired the final two batters to complete the sweep for Cypress, 12-1.

UP NEXT: The Chargers will open up a 3 game series vs. Saddleback on Monday, March 9, as they take on the Gauchos. First pitch will be at 2:30PM.
