Chargers Walk It Off Against Saddleback, 2-1

CYPRESS, CA- The Cypress College baseball team opened up a three game series vs. the Saddleback Gauchos on Monday afternoon. The Chargers (17-2-1, 4-0 OEC) won in walk off fashion over Saddleback (15-5, 2-2 OEC), 2-1.

The Chargers found themselves in a pitching duel on Monday when starter, Sebastian Diaz, and Saddleback starter, Hunter Ash, went toe to toe for 7 innings. The Chargers scored their first run in the 5th inning when Bobby Silvis tripled to center field. He later scored on a error to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Pitcher, Sebastian Diaz carried a perfect game into the 6th inning until Antonio Vultaggio of Saddleback hit a solo homerun to knot up the game at 1. The stage was set for power hitter, Hayden Winters, in the bottom of the 9th inning to send Cypress home victorious. Winters delivered as he powered a fastball over the center field wall to give Cypress the win in walk off fashion.
