Cypress College Names Sean Clark as First-Ever Head Coach for Women’s Flag Football
Chargers Prepare for Inaugural Season Launch in Spring 2026
CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Sean Clark as the inaugural head coach for the Women's Flag Football program. The Chargers will officially launch their first season in Spring 2026, marking a historic moment for the college as it adopts one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation.
Clark began his coaching career with the Los Alamitos High School football program and has since coached at Lakewood High School and Kennedy High School. Most recently, he has been instrumental in leading the Girls' Flag Football program at Kennedy since the sport was officially sanctioned by the CIF in 2023.
Beyond the high school level, Clark has been a driving force in the expansion of youth flag football. He founded the "Friday Night Lights" youth league in Cypress and later expanded the program to the City of Tustin. In just two years, he has grown the youth girls' flag football scene from fewer than 20 participants to over 700.
"Cypress College holds a special place in my heart," said Clark. "This city and this campus have been a part of my journey, and I am honored to lead this program as we build something special for our student-athletes and the community."
Clark is a well-respected figure in the local football community, brings extensive coaching experience and a deep connection to the area. A Los Alamitos High School alumnus, he spent a year at Cypress College before transferring to Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he earned his B.A. in History, teaching credentials, and a Master's in Mild Moderate Special Education. He currently teaches at Kennedy High School in La Palma, CA.
With Clark at the helm, Cypress College Women's Flag Football is set to establish itself as a competitive program, providing new opportunities for female athletes in this rapidly growing sport.
