Cypress Chargers’ Former Guard Ashley Hawkins Named Among Top 50 Mid-Major Players to Watch
Hawkins Shines as a Standout Player in the Big South Conference
Boiling Springs, N.C. – Cypress College is proud to announce that former women's basketball guard Ashley Hawkins has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Mid-Major Players to Watch by the World Exposure Report, coming in at No. 47. This honor highlights Hawkins' exceptional talent and dedication to the game as she continues to excel at the Division I level.
During her time at Cypress College, Hawkins led the Chargers to the Elite 8 in the 3C2A State Tournament. She was a standout player in the Orange Empire Conference, leading in points per game and ranking in the top 5 for highest three-point percentage. Her impressive performance earned her the titles of Co-Player of the Year and Best Offensive Player of the Year.
Now returning for her senior season with the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, Hawkins is recognized as one of the top offensive players in the Big South Conference. She had a remarkable junior season, averaging 15.9 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. Hawkins' performance garnered significant accolades, including the 2024-25 Big South Conference Preseason Player of the Year, a 2023-24 First Team All-Big South selection, and the 2023-24 Big South Newcomer of the Year. Additionally, she received honorable mention as a WBCA All-American.
