CYPRESS, CA – Cypress College is proud to announce the return of former Chargers Men's Basketball standout Brennon Palmer to campus, now serving as an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department. Palmer is in his first semester as a Psychology 101 instructor, bringing his passion for education and student development back to his alma mater.
Palmer played under Head Coach Drew Alhadeff during the 2016-2018 seasons, where he established himself as one of the program's top defenders. Known for his ability to limit high-caliber opponents' scoring opportunities, Palmer was also a dedicated student off the court, excelling academically.
Following his time at Cypress, Palmer earned a scholarship to NCAA Division II Purdue Northwest University. Though his basketball career was cut short due to injury, he remained committed to his academic journey. Palmer pivoted towards psychology, eventually earning his Master's in Research Psychology with a focus on quantitative methods from Cal State Fullerton.
When reflecting on his time as a student-athlete at Cypress College, Palmer shared that his fondest memories include the unforgettable laughs with teammates and his highlight performance against San Diego Mesa, where he scored a career high of 38 points to help secure a 79-70 victory. He also credited Cypress College for providing the resources necessary to compete at the next level and build a strong foundation for his career.
Palmer also had a message for current and incoming Chargers student-athletes:
"Your sport is a vehicle to develop discipline. It's hard to develop discipline in life, and there is no better way than learning it through your sport. You already have the habits and things locked in, so take that and extract it for life."
Cypress Chargers Men's Basketball Head Coach Drew Alhadeff shared his excitement about Palmer's return:
"I'm very proud of Brennon and his journey. It's very exciting to see him back on campus in his new role. As a two-year captain for us, I always knew Brennon was going to be great in whatever avenue he decided to pursue. He is extremely passionate about psychology and it's great he's passing his knowledge on to others. Palmer is one of many of my former players that has become a good friend and person that I learn from with every conversation that we have. Truly happy that he is back in 'Chargerland' and on our campus!"
Cypress College Athletics is thrilled to welcome Professor Brennon Palmer back to campus, now giving back to the next generation of Chargers by sharing his knowledge and experience in the classroom.
