May Signs With Niagara University

Cypress College women's volleyball standout Madison May has officially committed to play at Niagara University next season. Niagara is an NCAA Division 1 program and member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

"They needed a big outside hitter…I feel like I can play and succeed at that level," said May. Her performance as a Charger this season speaks for itself. May currently leads the team in kills with 403, ranking as the fourth highest season total in school history. She is also third on the team in digs with 118 and fourth in blocks with 44. "Cypress helped me come in to my own as a leader on the court. I learned how to lead, be in control, and be a good teammate. I think it really helped prepare me for the next step."

Before attending Cypress, May was a two year letter winner at Los Alamitos High School where she won a Sunset League Championship, CIF 1AA Championship, So Cal Regional Championship, and earned Second Team All-League honors. She went on to play a season at Cal Poly Pomona before transferring over to Cypress College.

Madison will major in political science at Niagara and plans to attend law school after receiving her bachelor's degree. "I want to focus on constitutional law since I want to work in Washington D.C. at the Capital Building or the White House someday."

The Cypress College women's volleyball team will host their final regular season game this Wednesday, November 18th at 6:00 pm against Saddleback.
