Third-seeded Chargers host Citrus to open Regionals

Cypress, CA - The Charger softball team ended the season with a 33-7 overall record, a tie for first place in the conference with a 18-3 record, was awarded home field advantage in the opening round of the Regionals. They will host Citrus (24-12) and the runner-up in the Western State Blue Conference with a 14-4 record. The Owls are seeded 14 in the South Regionals.

The Chargers defeated the Owls 9-1 in a 5-inning game on March 16 at Cypress. Alyssia Palomino pitched a 3-hit, 3-strikeout and 1-earned run game.

Coach Brad Pickler had engineered the Chargers to 16 State Final Fours and won eight State titles including the last three. The Chargers are in a quest to claim their 4th in a row, which has not been done by any program in the country. Pickler was confident with this squad, quoted in the Daily News:  "(This team) will be in the hunt. It's not a team that can't do it. It's just tough to do."
