Chargers ' rally fell short in first game

Cypress, CA - The Citrus Owls remembered March 16 when they were being mercied 9-1 to the Chargers. This time, they came in determined and pounded out 16 hits to win game one of the best-of-three at the Cypress Softball Field 10-7 over the Chargers. Down 6-2, the Chargers stormed back in the bottom of the 6th with five runs to take a 7-6 lead. The Chargers loaded the bases to open the bottom of the 6th, Morgan Wheeler singled to score Alyssia Palomino from 3rd base to start the rally. Melissa Mankey singled scoring Mylee Macahilig, then Makia Hastings doubled to score Wheeler and Mankey. Hastings came home on a catcher's throwing error.

The Owls responded in the Top of the 7th with four runs to lead 10-7 and the eventual final score. Jessica Gonzalez opened with a solo shot over the left field fence, then the Owls loaded the bases and cleared them all on a Bree Lockett's double.
