Chargers won a close one over Santa Ana 8-6

Cypress, CA - The Dons came into the game determined. They hit Stephanie Luhmann early in the top of the first inning with Alexandra Perkins leading off with a double then stole third base. Sabrina Perez drove in Perkins on a single. The Chargers responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs to take the lead 4-1. The Dons rebutted with two runs in the top of the second on Mina Pavao's double and a pass ball to cut the deficit to 4-3. Mallory Campbell scored in the bottom of the second off Alyssia Palomino's single to increase the lead to 5-3. The Chargers (30-5, 16-3) added two runs in the bottom of the fourth to increase the lead to 7-3 and appeared safe. The Dons (24-13, 11-8) refused to fold, adding two runs in the top of the sixth on a homerun by Sabrina Perez over the left field fence and Natalie Valdez scored on an error by Morgan Wheeler to cut the lead to 7-6.  In the bottom of the sixth, Nicole Nobbe paid back with a homerun deep over the right field fence to add an insurance run for the Chargers and locked up the final score to 8-6.

The crucial win over Santa Ana, coupling with Santiago Canyon's victory over Riverside, the Chargers are tied for first in the league.  Each team has two games remaining in league play.
