Chargers Put On a Show in First Victory

Cypress College (1-3-1) looked clinical against Moorpark College (0-3-0), beating the home team 4-1 for their first win of the season. After enduring a three-game goal drought, the Chargers fired on all cylinders against the Moorpark Raiders as they put the game away with 3 goals before the end of the first half. The Chargers controlled the ball throughout the match, taking 16 shots (eight on goal) while Moorpark were held to only 2 shots (both on goal).

Armando Monjaraz (Fr) opened up the tally in the 16th minute thanks to an assist by Stephen Morones (So). Later in the 30th minute, Sergio Avila (So) scored an assisted goal to give the Chargers a commanding 2-0 lead. Moorpark finally answered back when winger Felipe Luz scored in the 43rd minute to put his team within one, but the Chargers quickly responded a minute later when Alexis Esparza (Fr) found the net thanks to an assist from Allan Olivares (So).

The Chargers punctuated their victory in the 67th minute when defender Arthur Robledo (Fr) found Brandon Doran (Fr) for the fourth goal of the game.

The Chargers will look to ride their momentum against Southwestern College on the road Friday, September 18th at 3:00 p.m.
