Chargers Come Up Short in Final Home Game

Cypress- The Cypress College men's soccer team (3-15-1, 1-11 OEC) lost to Orange Coast (8-9-1, 7-5 OEC) 2-1 at home on Friday afternoon.

The Orange Coast College Pirates dominated possession in the first half allowing them to take a 1-0 lead. Isacc Campos of Orange Coast drilled in a shot from close range to get the scoring started halfway through the first half. Cypress was unable to get anything going on offense as Orange Coast kept up the pressure.

After some halftime adjustments, Cypress was able to have more success with the ball. Six minutes into the second half, Hawe Yonas scored the equalizer. He was awarded a penalty shot after a foul by Orange Coast's Tommy Contreras in the box. The score would remain tied 1-1 well into the second half.

The Charger defense broke down late in the game which would prove to be costly. Abraham Cortes of Orange Coast would be the beneficiary of the break down as he easily scored what would turn out to be the winning goal in the 78th minute.

The Chargers will finish out the regular season with games at Norco on Tuesday November 10th at 3pm and at Irvine Valley on Friday November 13th at 3pm.
