Chargers Suffer Loss to Norco on Late Goal

Cypress- The Cypress College men's soccer team (3-9-1, 1-6 OEC) lost 2-1 to Norco College (3-8-1, 1-5 OEC) at home on Friday afternoon.

Despite Cypress owning the possession advantage throughout the entire game, Norco was able to score two late goals and earn their first conference win of the season.

The Chargers dominated the ball throughout the first half and got the scoring started early when freshman Jonathan Fuller was able to find the back of the net in the 13th minute. The score would stay the same well into the second half.

In the 70th minute, Norco's Cesar Duque was able to convert an equalizer to tie the game 1-1. The game looked as if it would end in a tie until Francisco Bautista of Norco connected on a free kick in the 88th minute, after a Cypress foul. Bautista's shot from 75 feet out went over the head of goalie Louis Espindola and found the top right corner of the net. The goal turned out to be the last play of the game, giving Norco the 2-1 victory.

The Chargers return to action Tuesday, October 20th when they host Irvine Valley College at 3:00 PM.
