Cypress College (1-4-1) struggled to gather themselves on the defensive end as the Chargers took a tough 7-1 loss against the undefeated Southwestern College (6-0-1). The Jaguars outperformed the Chargers on each half of the field, dominating possession and outshooting Cypress 11 to 4.

The first half was a tight affair as the Chargers defense tried to contain the Jaguars. Midfielder Mark Davalos scored the opening goal for Southwestern in the 5th minute, but the Jaguars were held scoreless for the rest of the half.

Southwestern managed to double their lead ten minutes into the second half when forward Alejandro Camacho found the back of the net. Three minutes later, freshman Dragan Maksimovic scored one for the Chargers to cut the deficit in half.

However, starting at the 64th minute the Jaguars erupted for 4 goals to put the game away. Alejandro Camacho nabbed two goals in the 64th and 68th minute, both assisted by Esteban Correa, for the hat trick. Forward Daniel Corona scored in the 70th and 72nd minute for the brace to give Southwestern a 6-1 lead. Two minutes before the final whistle, Jose Ramirez added one more to the Jaguars tally thanks to an assist from Mario Carrillo to end the game.

The Chargers will travel to take on College of the Desert at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22nd. This will be the Chargers' final road game before their home opener against Golden West College on September 29th at 3:00 pm.
