Wilmington – The Cypress College men's basketball team notched its fifth win of the season (5-7) on December 18, defeating LA Harbor on the road, 53-52. Jerred Cook and Jeremy Wright led the team with double-digit scoring.
The Chargers had a rough time in the first half and went into the break trailing 20-13. In the second half, the team was able to get some offense going and out-scored LA Harbor 40-32 in the last 20 minutes of action to win.
Both Cook and Wright were solid behind the charity strip with Cook making 10-of-12 (83%) and Wright making 5-of-6 (83%), giving Wright a team-high 14 points in the game, while Cook added 10. Jordan Fleck led the team in rebounding with seven.
The Chargers will play their final tournament of the season next as they head south for the San Diego Mesa Tournament (Dec. 28-30) where they will be looking to equal or eclipse last season's win total of seven games. They first face host team San Diego Mesa on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 12:30 pm.
