Second Half Comeback Falls Short for Men’s Basketball Against Fullerton, 62-56

 

Cypress – The Charger men's basketball team (10-16, 3-8 OEC) fell to rival Fullerton (4-22, 2-9 OEC) 62-56 on Wednesday evening after a solid second half comeback fell short. Jeremy Wright led the team in scoring with 15 points.
 
At the halftime break, Fullerton led 33-24 and extended its lead to as many as 15 in the second half, but Cypress battled back and used an 18-4 run to tie the game at 50 all with just under six minutes to play. Fullerton would retake the lead at 56-53, but the Chargers again tied the game (56-56) with 1:09 remaining. The Hornets were able to halt any offense by Cypress and would go on to win the game 62-56.
 
Nolan Kelly also scored in double-digits for the Chargers with 10. Jordan Fleck was one rebound and one point shy of a double-double, tallying nine points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Chargers struggled from the floor, shooting just 32% for the game (21-of-66), while Fullerton shot 46% (23-of-50).
 
The Chargers will wrap up the 2014-15 season on Friday when they host Orange Coast (8-15, 6-5 OEC) at 5:00 pm.
