Men’s Basketball Falls to Irvine Valley in Close Game, 58-54

Cypress – The men's basketball team (8-11, 1-3 OEC) dropped a close game to Irvine Valley College (10-9, 3-1 OEC) on Wednesday evening as Jeremy Wright led the team in scoring for the second consecutive contest.

Cypress trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but Wright was crucial for the Chargers, scoring 14 of his team-high 22 points in the first 20 minutes of play. With his help, Cypress took a 27-23 lead into the break.

In the second half, Cypress pushed its lead to seven (17:32 remaining), but IVC battled back and went on a 13-0 run to take a 40-34 lead with just under 13 minutes remaining. The Lasers never trailed after that point and would go on to win 58-54.

The men will hit the road for the next two games, first heading to rival Fullerton (2-17, 0-4 OEC) on Friday, Jan. 23 for a game at 5:00 pm. The Chargers will then face Orange Coast (4-12, 2-2 OEC) on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 5:00 pm.
