Men’s Basketball Falls to No. 4 Saddleback, 70-53

 

Cypress – The Cypress men's basketball team (9-13, 2-5 OEC) fell to No. 4 Saddleback (23-2, 6-1 OEC) 70-53 as the second half of Orange Empire Conference play commenced on Friday evening. Jeremy Wright led the team in scoring with 20 points.

Jerred Cook also scored in double-digits for the Chargers, chipping in 10. Isaiah Taylor led the team in rebounds with seven, while Nolan Kelly had a team-high four assists.

The Chargers trailed 34-25 at the half, but closed to within four (34-30) two minutes into the second half and continued to trail by single digits until 14:13 when the Gauchos lead was at 11 (46-35). Saddleback continued to hold a double-digit lead and ended the game with a 70-53 win.

Cypress will hit the road for its next three games, first heading to Riverside on February 4th for a 5:00 pm contest against Riverside (8-14, 3-4 OEC).
