Cypress, CA - Cypress Baseball (5-1) extended their winning streak to five games after defeating the Moorpark Raiders (1-6) 7-6 on Tuesday afternoon. Andrew Quezada got the win despite blowing the save opportunity while Jake Eaton was charged with a loss after surrendering a game-winning sacrifice fly to Willie Aguilar. Nate Rodriguez went two for four with two runs and an RBI while Logan Swofford went one for one with a run and three RBI.

Logan Swofford got the Chargers on the board in the bottom of the third inning when he advanced Nate Rodriguez home from third with a deep sacrifice fly to centerfield.

The Raiders fought back in the fourth inning with two outs and a runner on third, when Chargers' center fielder Aaron Case lost a fly ball in the sun to give up an RBI double to Cipriano.

The Chargers rallied for three runs in the fifth inning with four hits to take back the lead. With runners on first and second, Nate Rodriguez slapped an RBI single to bring a runner home. Derek Reilly followed up with a base-clearing double to give the Chargers a 4-1 lead.

Relief pitcher Tripp Aversa found himself in a jam in the sixth inning with runners on first base and one out. Cipriano hit a triple deep to centerfield and seemed to have earned an RBI, but the runner Aaron Fields was ruled out when he second guessed a throw and tried to turn back to third base after Cipriano reached there. Aversa got the next batter to fly out to shallow right to escape the inning.

Cypress added an insurance run in the sixth inning thanks to sacrifice fly by Garret Calvert, but Moorpark fought back the next inning to stay in the game after several fielding errors from the Chargers. After putting runners on second and third due to a wild pitch, an error by Nate Rodriguez brought in a run. After Coolen struck out the next batter, he gave up a routine grounder to third base; however, a fielding error by Derek Reilly brought another runner home to cut the Chargers' lead 5-3.

The two teams put another run on board and the Chargers needed to close out the ninth inning to seal the victory. With a runner on first, closer Andrew Quezada almost closed the door with two consecutive strikeouts, but the next batter Jack Rosenberg drilled a two-run homer over the left field fence to tie the game.

At the bottom of the ninth inning, Cypress refused to send the game into extra innings with a calm approach to the plate. Relief pitcher Jake Eaton surrendered three consecutive walks after a fly out from Derek Reilly, setting up Willie Aguilar for the game-winning sacrifice fly.

The Chargers will host Citrus College on Thursday, February 18 at 2 PM.
