Scott Pickler

Cypress College baseball coach Scott Pickler attended Savanna High School from 1966-1968. Pickler played all three years on the Rebels football, basketball, and baseball teams. He won a CIF Championship as the second baseman under head coach Jim Reach, was selected to the 1968 All-League basketball and baseball team, was named 1968 Athlete of the Year, and still holds the school record for longest touchdown reception (87 yards). "I have great memories of all the guys I played with…I'm humbled by the whole thing, there have been some great athletes at Savanna over the years," said Coach Scott Pickler.

Pickler continued his baseball career at San Diego State University, where he earned his degree in physical education. In 1979 he returned to Savanna High School as the head baseball coach where he led the Rebels to a League Championship.

Pickler took over a struggling Cypress baseball program in 1985 and quickly turned the Chargers into a respected California powerhouse. In his 31 seasons at Cypress, he has led the Chargers to five State Championships, four State Runner-Up finishes, and six Orange Empire Conference Championships. The four-time National Coach of the Year for California Community Colleges has seen over 200 of his student-athletes receive scholarships and over 120 selected in the MLB draft.

Brad Pickler

Cypress College softball coach Brad Pickler attended Savanna High School from 1971-1973. He played basketball and baseball for the Rebels. "It's an honor and a privilege to be recognized by the school, there are so many other athletes from Savanna who should be recognized," said Coach Brad Pickler. He jokingly added "It's very special to get inducted with my brother…he was the better athlete but I am the better coach."

After graduating from Cal State Fullerton, Pickler returned to Savanna High School as a special ed teacher and coach from 1981-1991. Pickler was the varsity girls basketball coach from '81-'91, sophomore baseball coach in '81, varsity girls volleyball coach in '88, and varsity softball coach from '85-'86. He led the girls basketball team to a League Championship in 1983 and the girls softball team to a Co-League Championship in 1986.

Pickler took over a once depleted Cypress softball program in 1987 and managed to turn it around overnight, earning 15 Conference Coach of the Year awards and a Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd section after a 66-5 finish to the 1997 season. In 30 seasons at Cypress he has amassed over 1,200 wins while earning eight State Championships and 20 Orange Empire Conference Championships.
