CYPRESS, CA- The Orange Empire Conference held their annual end of season meeting on Saturday, February 26th. The eight OEC coaches voted three Cypress Chargers to All-Conference honors. Malia Goldsmith and Jaylene Oviedo were selected to the first team while Thao Truong was selected to the second team. 

Malia Goldsmith was the starting point guard and leader of the Cypress Chargers as she finished the year leading the team in scoring (18.3 ppg) and assists (3.4 per game). Goldsmith had a career game on November 19th when she dropped 44 points on Napa Valley while shooting 8-of-11 from three-point range. The second-year guard had another breakout game against Orange Coast College in which she scored 34 points in the first conference road game of the season. Malia score 20+ points in 9 of the 23 games she played in this season. 

Jaylene Oviedo was a sharp-shooter for Cypress this season as she knocked down a Cypress single-season record 92 three-pointers. Oviedo averaged 14.3 ppg for Cypress, but her breakout game was against Mira Costa in which she scored 39 points. Jaylene made a Cypress single-game record, 11 three-pointers, on the way to a 68-47 Cypress victory. The shooting guard was third in the OEC in three-point percentage at 41%. 

Thao Truong was the Charger leader on the glass for Cypress averaging 5.3 rebounds per game. Thao played in 27 games this season averaging 7.3 ppg. The freshman guard was a leader in the locker room for the Cypress, her hard work on and off the court is a strong attribute to the Charger's success this season.
