Chargers Roll in Win Over Compton, 76-22

CYPRESS, CA - Cypress Chargers women's basketball (5-6) hosted the Compton Tartars (1-10) on Wednesday night. The Chargers rolled on their way to a 54-point victory, 76-22. 

Alexcia Alvarez was the Chargers leading scorer with 15 points and added four assists with three steals. Tanya Carbajal was the highlight of the night as she knocked down three three-pointers as she made her comeback from a two year injury. Malia Goldsmith added nine points and four steals to push the Chargers to a dominant victory. 

Cypress got out to an early 13-point lead in the first five minutes of the game and never looked back. The Charger defense forced 12 turnovers by the Tartars in the first quarter as Cypress came up with eight steals. The Chargers entered halftime with a 41-15 lead. The Cypress defense came alive in the third quarter as they allowed just two points from Compton. After shooting 50% from the field, the Chargers defeated Compton 76-22. 

UP NEXT: Women's Basketball will head to Grossmont College for a three day tournament (12/18-12/20) where they will face La Trade-Tech, MiraCosta, and Citrus College. Cypress will have four more games before conference play begins on January 5th.
