Chargers Fight Off Falcons in Home Opener, 3-1

CYPRESS, CA - The Cerritos Falcons (1-2) came across town determined to beat the Chargers (2-1) Wednesday night taking the first game of the match. The Chargers shook out all the jitters and came back to take the match in four sets (18-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-19) giving them their second win on the season.

The Chargers, although started off slow, found a way to answer back strong by leading the remainder of the match comfortably. Sophomore outside hitter, Brittany Zavala, gave a strong performance for her team during the home opener with 11 kills and 5 aces. Her freshman teammate, Mary Hicks, backed her up, also putting up double-digit kills (13), totaling to 14 of her own points for the Lady Chargers' dominating offense.

As the end of the match neared, the Chargers really started playing together. The freshman duo, Alexis Flores and Lauren Adamo, also made their presence known on Don Johnson Court last night. Flores finished with eight kills of her own and Adamo added 18 digs for the Charger defense.
